Last Epoch CoF means Circle of Fortune, the item faction that improves equipment you find yourself. In Season 5, select a reward and a lens for each available Prophecy slot, gain Favor to build charges, then complete either of that slot's target conditions to receive rewards. Prophecy rerolling has been removed.
Join through Zerrick in Maj'Elka Upper District during Chapter 9, then visit Galila at the Observatory. CoF suits players who want their own drops to drive progression, but faction-enhanced items can carry CoF requirements and cannot be treated as ordinary trade equipment. Configure the faction around the item types you need and the activities you can regularly complete.
Join with the equipment restrictions in mind
Reach the Upper District of Maj'Elka through campaign progression or the Temporal Sanctum shortcut into Chapter 9. Speak to Zerrick for the faction introduction, then travel to the Observatory and speak with Galila to align with Circle of Fortune.

CoF benefits finding equipment rather than buying it through the Merchant's Guild Bazaar. Items found while aligned with CoF are untradable, though gifting remains a separate possibility. Items obtained through Prophecies or rank benefits can be bound to the faction and require CoF membership to equip.
Read the faction requirement on an item before planning a switch. A useful item in your stash may be unavailable after changing alignment even though its level and class still match the character. CoF's larger flow of drops is valuable only when the equipment remains usable for the character you intend to improve.
Rank and Favor serve different purposes. Rank unlocks bonuses, slots, rewards, and lenses. Favor is earned through gameplay and drives Prophecy charge progress. Do not treat an accumulated Favor total as a substitute for meeting the rank requirement of a reward or item.
Fill the four slots as they unlock
The first Prophecy slot is available when you join. The other three unlock at ranks 3, 6, and 9. Each has two trigger conditions, and either condition can activate its charged reward. You do not need to complete both targets for the same activation.
| Slot | Rank | Either target qualifies |
|---|---|---|
| Mesembria | 1 | Defeat a Rift Beast or activate a Shrine |
| Dysis | 3 | Defeat a Nemesis or open a Lost Cache |
| Eos | 6 | Defeat an Exiled Mage or Timeline Boss |
| Arctis | 9 | Defeat a Fateweaver or an Omen |

Interact with a telescope at the Observatory to select the reward for a slot. The interface can switch between directions, so you do not need to interpret each physical telescope as an isolated purchase process. Focus on the slot, reward, lens, and targets displayed.
Each slot accepts one reward and one lens. A particular reward or lens can only occupy one slot per character, while multiple characters can use the same unlocked choice. You therefore need distinct selections across one character's available slots rather than placing the identical target reward everywhere.
Begin with rewards that improve your current equipment. If one slot targets the unique type you are missing, use another for a donor equipment type, keys, idols, or materials that support the next step. The goal is a useful collection of rewards across normal play, not four slots that appear active but serve no equipment plan.
Understand charges before chasing targets
Once a reward is selected, gaining Favor progresses its charge bar. Each reward's tooltip shows the Favor needed for a charge, and every configured slot progresses when you earn Favor according to its selected reward and lens. A full charge is stored, with a maximum of 99 per slot.
Completing a target without a charge does not produce that slot's Prophecy reward. Conversely, having charges without completing either target leaves the rewards unclaimed. These are two separate conditions to inspect when a Prophecy seems inactive.
When multiple charges are available, completing a trigger can spend additional charges and drop the reward multiple times. Do not assume every encounter consumes exactly one stored charge regardless of the displayed stock. Watch the slot's current charge count when planning a route around accumulated rewards.
In patch 1.5.2, rapid duplicate Prophecy notifications were removed, and charge notifications were removed in favor of the HUD tracker. Use the faction interface and tracker to confirm progress. The absence of an older notification does not mean the slot is no longer gaining charges.
If you routinely fill charges but rarely trigger them, choose activities that include the target conditions or consider an available lens that adds another target. If you trigger targets constantly but have no charges, improving the rate at which you earn Favor or choosing an appropriate charge lens addresses a different bottleneck.
Select reward categories that solve a specific gap
CoF starts with broad equipment, Unique, Set, idol, and basic crafting-material rewards. More specific rewards unlock as rank increases. Your first practical decision is which equipment or material type would improve the character, not whether a label sounds rare.
| Rank milestone | Selected reward additions or upgrades | Useful planning implication |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | Random Key, Rune of Removal, Glyph of Order | Add access or crafting support |
| 3 | Specific dungeon keys | Prepare a known dungeon goal |
| 4 | Rare equipment upgrades to Exalted; specific idol sizes | Target donors and usable idol shapes |
| 5 | Idol Altars, Dungeon Charms, Champion items | Support a more specific farming route |
| 8 | Weaver idols and Rune of Weaving; Experimental items upgrade | Review the new reward types before keeping old goals |
| 10 | Idol Altars and Harbinger's Spoils upgrade to Exalted | Reassess advanced donor and equipment needs |
| 11 | Advanced runes; Champion rewards upgrade to T7 | Plan crafting around available materials |
| 12 | Experimental rewards upgrade to T7 | Target the relevant experimental affix goal |
This is a selection of milestones rather than a claim that every reward unlocks at once. Check the menu for your current rank. A reward that upgrades after a rank increase updates automatically, so you do not need an Observatory visit simply to replace a rare version with its upgraded counterpart.
Target an equipment type when you need several possible affixes within it. Target a material when the equipment is already prepared but the next crafting step lacks the resource. Changing the reward to match the actual blocker gives a clearer progression plan than continuing to collect a completed slot out of habit.
For an alt, keep its class and eventual faction alignment in mind. A reward is not automatically equippable just because it was earned on another character. Check level, class, and faction requirements before treating a stash tab of CoF equipment as a complete leveling kit.
Choose lenses by the property you need
Lenses change different parts of the reward process. Some speed charging or duplicate rewards; others change affix distribution or average LP. Pick the property that is limiting your item search. More rewards and a better chance of a particular rare property are related goals, but they are not identical.

| Lens | Unlock rank | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Tyranny | 3 | Uses existing Favor to increase charge rate |
| Origin | 4 | Raises average prefix tiers on rare and exalted rewards |
| Finality | 4 | Raises average suffix tiers on rare and exalted rewards |
| Celerity | 5 | Speeds charging of its Prophecy |
| Duplication | 5 | Gives a chance to duplicate rewards |
| Anomaly | 6 | Compresses rare and exalted affix weighting |
| Prowess | 6 | Favors level-of-skill affixes on helmets, body armor, and relics |
| Acceleration | 6 | Adds Rare enemies as a target condition |
| Charity | 7 | Speeds other Prophecy slots |
| Celestial Scales | 7 | Can double rewards, with a small chance of replacing them with a Grole Egg |
| Curiosity | 8 | Compresses Unique and Set item weighting |
| Quality | 9 | Improves average Unique LP and can upgrade rare or exalted affix tiers |
Acquire available lenses from Galila. They unlock for characters sharing the same stash and move into storage rather than taking ordinary stash-tab space. You do not need to acquire a separate physical copy for every character or treat the menu as a source of reroll consumables.
Tyranny is useful when you want to use accumulated Favor for faster charging. Read its consumption behavior before leaving it in a slot indefinitely. Origin and Finality address different affix sides, so choose the one corresponding to the donor's important prefix or suffix rather than assuming both offer the same result.
Curiosity helps when the desired Unique's rarity is the bottleneck. Quality helps when improving potential or affix tiers is the objective. Neither turns every reward of a selected equipment type into the exact named item you want. Keep boss-specific acquisition rules separate from broad reward categories.
Celestial Scales includes a replacement outcome. Do not treat its potential reward increase as free of trade-offs, and do not confuse Grole Egg with the Nemesis Egg of the Forgotten. If you want predictable equipment categories, assess that replacement possibility before using the lens for a critical short-term reward target.
Build a practical farming configuration
For a missing unique, select the relevant Unique equipment category in one slot and choose a lens suited to acquiring a rarer item when available. Put a compatible exalted donor type in another slot, with Origin or Finality if the important donor affix is on that side. Use remaining slots for distinct current needs.
For defensive equipment, target the slot that repeatedly lacks useful suffixes or the relevant idol shape. Finality may suit an exalted suffix goal, while an idol reward addresses a different part of the character. Do not spend every slot on damage equipment if survival is what stops you completing encounters.
For dungeon crafting, a specific dungeon key reward can support access while another slot gathers donors. This coordinates materials and the destination rather than accumulating one without the other. It still requires you to complete the dungeon and qualify the unique for the intended tier.
Choose a route that naturally fulfills several slot conditions. Monolith play can include Shrines, Lost Caches, Exiled Mages, Timeline Bosses, Omens, and other targets. You do not need a narrowly named old Prophecy objective when the slot accepts either of two broad conditions.
Diagnose a reward that does not appear
Start with the selected slot. Confirm that it is unlocked, has an active reward, and holds at least one charge. Then confirm that the completed activity is one of its designated targets. A similar-looking encounter or a target belonging to another slot does not fulfill the condition you are checking.
Next, inspect rank and reward upgrades. A selected rare equipment reward may now appear as exalted after ranking up. This automatic change can make the result look different without indicating a broken selection. Item labels and the slot's current configuration are more useful than remembering the menu from an earlier rank.
Finally, inspect the lens and item requirement. A duplication chance is not guaranteed, a weighting lens does not guarantee one rare named item, and a CoF-bound drop still needs the relevant faction access to equip. Correct the selection that causes the mismatch, then continue earning charges and triggering eligible targets through the activities your character can reliably complete.
